Special requests are becoming the standard at Palmberg

Our customers rightly require office furniture meeting the high, modern demands of the current office segment. It doesn’t make any difference whether serial or customized products are requested. Our know-how allows us to satisfy almost every customer wish. On a production area of 22,000 square metres, today nine workplace systems, three comprehensive cabinet programmes and numerous special designs are produced at Palmberg.

“The sector and the customer requests are becoming more and more individual. Therefore, we’re continuously developing our production and making it even more flexible“, says the Managing Director Uwe Blaumann.

The ‘Special Construction’ of Palmberg realizes particular office ideas

Our customers’ list of wishes is often so individual that a couple of requirements can’t always be covered by an available product from the Palmberg programme. However, to guarantee a smooth office organisation of our customers, we adapt our furniture to the respective situations, rooms and preferences. By starting up a new production hall of 2,400 m², combined with modernisation and extension of the former department Special Construction to around 780 m², Palmberg wants the particular requests of the customers become the future standard.

“The special requests of our customers are always new challenges for us. According to the ‘one-piece-principle’,

customized goods are individually produced in terms of customer wishes”, says Klaus Lutz, Palmberg Production Manager.

About 15 to 20% of the furniture manufactured by Palmberg belongs to this group of products. Besides all customized productions that differ from orders of standard articles, also all veneer parts are manufactured in the Palmberg Special Construction Department where the goods are veneered, sanded and painted. Additionally, Special Construction also produces the high-quality Palmberg reception programmes. Since the foundation of Palmberg, it has been a principle that these products can only be realized by a qualified staff and state-of-the-art machinery.

Therefore, it’s not surprising that thirteen out of fifteen employees in the Special Construction Department are qualified carpenters or wood mechanics. The complete area of special constructions, including veneer production and finishing, is managed by the master craftsman Nico Kreffta, a member of the production management. Besides Nico Kreffta, also Joachim Scholz and Georg Lienshöft are master craftsmen.

Not only the team of the Special Construction Department are on a high level of quality, also the woodworking machinery of the companies Martin and Holzkraft, as well as a complete newly equipped veneer production, are all indicators of modern and professional manufacturing. That not only the customized products are something special, but also the machines required in the production, is demonstrated by the belt sanding unit of Heesemann, serving a special width of 1600 mm.

This machine was adapted and constructed to the particular needs of Palmberg. The newly created machinery of the Special Construction Department is rounded up by the paint finishing system, also equipped with the latest technology. Here, the surfaces of veneer and MDF parts will be finished in the future.
